The latest poll from Change Research, conducted November 26-27, indicates Alabama Republican Roy Moore has reclaimed the lead from Democratic challenger Doug Jones in surveys of likely voters. The key takeaway from this most recent poll is: turnout, TurnOut, TURNOUT.
Much of the shift in support seems to result from a higher percentage of Republicans and Roy Moore supporters saying they will vote on December 12. Turnout in Democratic counties in Alabama slipped dramatically in the 2016 presidential election (compared to the 2012 presidential election). Turnout also increased significantly in Republican counties.
Alabama Democrats and Jones supporters therefore must focus intensely on getting their voters to the polls for this special Senate election. This imperative is especially operative for African-American voters in Alabama.
